So here's a little reflection on all of my favorite second semester projects. I'm supposed to pick three, which should be easy because second semester was my jam. typography So my first favorite of semester two was the typography project. It took me around three weeks or so to complete. I had to pick song lyrics/quotes, typefaces, format them, make graphics, etc. I had a lot of trouble deciding what quotes to do, since a lot of the music or quotes I had listed meant a lot to me. I learned a lot about balance and typeface, how to make more words look more emphasized than others. I was told often to add more graphics, lines, etc. and I did. but I also really liked the empty minimalist feel. I stuck mostly to the ideas I had in my head, except for maybe the bi heart. the gradients were finicky. I just.. I really liked it?? it sparked joy???? that's why I like a lot of these projects. vector  another one I really enjoyed was the vector graphics. that took...

Afro, my cat, died September something, 2018! he was eighteen, skinny, old and loved to cuddle. he was practically on death's door, so I was pretty alright when he was put down. Rip my little buttface. to pay respect to my scruffy little baby, I decided to use this picture of him for the vectored portrait. isn't he adorable?????? it didn't take long to like... crop anything. unfortunately, when I tried to posterize him, it didn't end up well. so I just used the organic picture. there was enough clear contrast that it was easy :D! I would truly like to thank my friend, Eli for giving me tips for illustrator; he taught me about the pen curve tool (just below the pen tool) and it saved my life. this prevented the portrait from becoming too chunky, and smoothed out areas. so that ended up pretty well. overall it was fairly easy, it was just truly tedious. which I didn't mind, it was therapeutic in a way.    this was was pretty fun to say the least. So, if you don't know, Typography is that live-laugh-love type stuff that your mom posts on facebook. they're cheesy, but pretty. I, personally like them, depending on the quote. so at first, we had to think of ten quotes, then pick four to make into a black and white typography. here they are: pardon their blurriness, but still. I chose lyrics that either I chose or my best friend, who loves lyrics. weirdo. I chose two basic fonts, one serif and one sans serif, which you can see are both used in the last one. I then chose some accent fonts for emphasis, which can be seen in the first three. next, we had the option to color the four we already did, or four new ones. alright so I'm supposed to show like two projects and review them and stuff. if you can't tell, I'm VERY done right now, I'm exhausted. whatever. here we go. so as you can see, you have already seen this. it's Julia and Jared. yippee. the first one was a popart project, and the other one was like,, something with Photoshop 101. both of them didn't take very long. how long did it take? julia took like... a week, and jared took two days. you can see which one I liked better, clearly. any issues? I didn't have any problems with Julia, she was easy. jared, however. his hair was so hard!!! I relied heavily on effects to make it look at least semi decent. good critique? I didn't get a lot of critique. or at least... useful ones. OH WOW. OH WOW. O H W O W. I loved doing this!!! wow!!!! This is my friend Julia, and she was a model for my popart project. I really wanted to incorporate the trees, and her hair into the design and to make it really uniform, so I found a color palette online. Our class began with going out to the courtyard and taking photos. Out of all of the many we took, this one was by far my favorite. I uploaded it into photoshop, grabbed a tablet and began my work. I decided on this green color scheme. Not only was it out of my comfort zone, but it provided a diverse amount of contrast I could have used in the piece. Thanks to multiply layers and adjustments, I could easily make the contrast even more prominent. To further the detail on shading, I used an inner shadow and outer glow setting. I also used a painterly blender brush, in order to give this some texture. I also used a screen tone to give it that pop art look. overall, I had a blast, and I want to do this so much more oft...

this was pretty easy, I must confess. I already had a general idea of what I wanted to do, and it all started with Singapore. Or.. a photo of Singapore. Meet Jared! I used a black and white color filter on his skin, I used a mask tool to get the trees onto his hair. I used blending layers on the suit, and color gradients on the suit as well to get that color. to amplify the shading, I placed a bevel and emboss layer as well. overall, I had to add a second layer of contrast, to make everything stand apart. the hair, generally, didn't turn out like I wanted it to. but the rest of it? it was exactly how. I wanted it to be. I'm actually really proud of this.

   Oh my god I think this is the day I perish.    Okay so like, we're learning how to do photoshop on photoshop. Like... moving things around and erasing tags and acne and things I wish I could do in real life. anyway if you want some examples, here's a few:    This is Dylan! He had a bunch of dirt and blemishes on his face before the spot healing tool pulled up like me at a Taco Bell. now, he's an airbrushed little youth. What a legend. This quarter was interesting to say the very least. I had to deal with so much stupidity, bullcrap and drama that I'm just so exhausted. I had to make a product with three, okay no TWO other people, since one didn't even do anything. The product was a virtual reality vine glasses, or as we like to call them, Vinels. essentially, we had to make a commercial, animation, website, and logo. we had to do so much, and I had to do most of the work.  I acted in the commercial, made some of the animations, made the logo and let everyone else do the website. the entire project took overall the entire quarter. we endured a lot of challenges. for one, out "leader" couldn't even lead, so I had to do it. second, I did a lot of the work and ideas. I probably could have done this aline. three, one of our workers didn't even contribute, and someone from another group had to help. might I add, said person wasn't even a part of our group, so I don't ...

oh my god... I've said it so many times it isn't even funny anymore, but this one. this project... this... HOUSE... was by far the most painstaking, longest, and the most TEDIOUS project I have ever done in e9 so far.  the satisfaction that washed over me when I realized all I had to do was paint... it was absolutely remarkable. The feeling of content when I realized I was done painting... treasuring. The moment when I rendered the final frame... the gratification... Just stunning. I took heed to this advice, but I also took it with a grain of salt, it couldn't be too hard, right? I already made multiple chairs. Here you see the beginning. The beginning of a career that'll last me a lifetime. here you see the first three animations that I'll forever look back on and think wow. I really don't like animation in photoshop. The whole point of the project was to animate three different balls. one bouncing from directly below, the other an arch, and the last one with creative freedom. these three gifs are what I created. the process I created the first one by making a custom grass tool and drawing the grass, then coloring the background. I then created a ball, and rendered it's texture by double clicking the layer. then, I began to make copies of the ball, making them do as I please. I made a frame animation, then turned off all the layers except the first one. then, the tedious process of duplicating a frame, turning off the last layer and turning on the next layer began. the last gif is 106 frames, so you can understand that it took a while. execution picking my color...

 The Process Remember when I said that making a logo was a wild ride? yeah, I was really wrong on that. T his one was a wild, wild ride. For my final, I had to make my own website, from almost scratch, with only the guidance of a few videos. So with that, sit back, relax and allow me to explain to you the absolute wild ride of making the website. Generally what happened Okay, so at first, I was sick. I was a day behind on the project, so I was a bit scrunched on time. I made it work though, and I'm really proud of that. I fist had to watch the first video, and name my files, and organize them. It was surprisingly therapeutic, really. That's the weird thing about this.  I then had to adjust a thing or two in Dreamweaver, and name a thing or two like the links, the title, how it's gonna look on certain cites. what made this such a wild ride is that dreamweaver is a really, really difficult program to work with, if you aren't a very good programmer or w...

the process Let me tell you. This one was a wild ride. At first, I really wanted a lilac alien (a wink and a nod to my alias online as an artist) with clouds and stars as a gradient (to show I was up in space all the time). However, my illustrator skills are relatively sub par, and my brain just shut down at that point. So, aliens were out of the question. But what was something else that I really liked, and was simple to draw with a mouse? cats. Yes, that's right. The final logo is this: Look at her, isn't she a beauty? This logo took little to no skill at all, and doing everything took me less than a day. Isn't that crazy?! I started out by drawing a black and white version, then other different colored versions, which looked like this: imagine if I actually used one of these... Contrast The contrast in this poster I edited can be seen in the use of red for the title, to contrast with the green and gold background. I made the characters gold, but to contrast even more, I used a gradient effect. You can also see contrast in the size of the typeface. The credits are in fine print, while the information is in a medium, white text. The title is the most important, so it's the largest. Alignment I aligned the title in a way that stands out, because it's supposed to stand out like that. the T and the  W  are aligned with each other as well, along with the Z, O, R, and   O. I did this because I didn't like how the entire poster looked when it was left aligned, and wanted it to be a little more in the center, but not exactly center aligned. I also right alines the ticket information as a form of contrast, and to show of the gold bricks drawn in the background. I center aligned the fine print in order to make room for all of it.  Repet...

Let's get this post started! This project focused on typography terminology. The E9 class was to type out their name in Sans Serif, and label ten parts of the typeface. This was my contribution. I apologize for the O. I couldn't figure out how to fill that in, so I had to freehand it.  What did I learn? I learned that my name doesn't line up in the Sans Serif font. This bothered me. A lot. I id the project nonetheless. I learned that I'm actually quite talented at freehand and editing, and that arrow shape number four is a good favorite of mine. I mean... Look at it! How did it go? I feel like it went very well! Some things I did were easy, like typing my name, putting the lines on there, and labelling. however, some things were difficult as well. I couldn't figure out how to fill in the counter of the O, so I freehanded it. I really enjoyed this project, and I can't wait to do more!
